One of my favourite things about Restoration Oils is the team I work with. We have some amazing coaches from all different backgrounds, from hypnobirthing instructors and nurses, to musicians and directors, there's just so many different people in our team.

Today I have a guest post from one of our coaches Chloe, who also runs Simply Healthy lifestyle and is an Aromatouch practitioner (we'll probably have to have another post on that another time!) here to share her top tips for living a simply healthy lifestyle.

Chloe and I share a lot of the same interests and passions, but she has a gift of communicating it in a simple way, that doesn't make people's eyes glaze over when she's talking!
With that in mind, I asked her to share, in easy manageable steps, what every person can be doing to improve their overall health and well being. Here's her answer:

No 1 - Mindset

Living a healthy lifestyle has to start with making a decision. Change may be necessary, and that won't happen by itself.

No 2 - Hydration

Water is essential for life, and for our bodies to operate efficiently.

- drink more water

- start the day with a glass of water

- reduce your intake of caffeine and soda

- eat more hydrating foods such as cucumber

No 3 - Healthy Eating

Food is vital to provide us with energy, but also all the necessary vitamins and minerals that we need to function.

- cut down on processed foods

- eat more plant based whole foods

- eat at set times

- eat mindfully

No 4 - Exercise

Exercise maintains our physical fitness and overall health.

- be active every day

- stretch in the morning

- do an exercise class or home workout twice a week

- include strength, cardio and balance exercises

No 5 - Sleep

Sleep helps us repair and restore our organ systems including our muscles, immune systems, and various other hormones, and it also plays a crucial role in memory function.

  • relax and reduce screen time before bed
  • go to bed and get up at set times
  • check that your pillows are in good condition

No 6 - Stress

Stress is key for survival, but too much stress can be detrimental.

Emotional stress that stays around for weeks or months can weaken the immune system and cause high blood pressure, fatigue, depression, anxiety and even heart disease.

  • identify areas causing you stress
  • change the things you can, accept those you can't or seek help if needed
  • find healthy ways to manage stress
  • start a thankfulness journal

No 7 - Environment

We should aim to reduce exposure to synthetic substances and toxins in our environment:

Regardless of where you are on your health journey, just pick one of these activities and work at it until it becomes a habit.

Then choose something else and start a new habit.

I can honestly tell you in all my years working in the area of health and nutrition, I've never yet met one person who regretted taking steps towards a healthier lifestyle; but I've met many who wish they'd started sooner.
