Tangerine is one of my favourite essential oils and I like to make sure we've always got a good stock of it in the house. Citrus oils in general are very uplifting and mood boosting (great if you have teenagers about!) but I also find them to be wonderfully soothing and calming, which is helpful in our neurodiverse household!
My favourite way to use citrus is to diffuse so that we all enjoy the benefits, but a close second is in this delicious chocolate recipe. Tangerine oil has great for supporting digestion, making it a lovely treat to serve a small piece after dinner, but it also melts down with a little water to make a beautiful water ganache for filling cookies or frosting a cake.
This recipe is so simple it's a great one to make with kids, and as it avoids refined sugar and dairy, it's allergen friendly too!
I only trust doTERRA essential oils when ingesting.
Please do not use other brands in this recipe. It is not safe to do so.
- 250 g cacao butter
- 125 g cocoa powder
- 1⁄4 tsp ground vanilla
- 100 ml maple syrup
- 15 drops tangerine essential oil doterra
- Simply heat the cocoa butter and maple syrup in a bain-marie, until melted.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the other ingredients.
- This is the time to add any essential oils you're using for flavoring.
- Add 1 drop at a time and taste test until you are happy with the flavor.
