I get that this is kind of a niche post and that not all of you have pet chickens, but I do, and I wanted to share with you my favourite coop cleaning spray recipe.
To be honest, it's great all purpose spray and you could probably use it to clean other outdoor items and the shed too, I've definitely used it in the greenhouse, but for the purposes of today, I'm calling it my coop cleaning spray.
Not only is this spray great for deterring pests that tend to show up when you keep chickens, but it's a natural deodoriser too, which is always a bonus. Chickens have extremely delicate respiratory systems, so using artificial synthetic fragrances around them is a big no, and it's important to use good quality oils for their health.
That said, doTERRA's oils are perfectly safe for them in these quantities and I've found having lavender around generally chills them out a bit, which was super important during the 'chicken lockdown' we recently had for bird flu where the girls weren't allowed to free range for months and they started getting a little testy with one another.
Being proactive about your pets health is so much cheaper and more effective than waiting for a problem to arise and trying to treat it, so it's worth just routinely making oils a part of your pets lives too :-)
