Aromatherapy for Sleep

People often like to try lavender oil to help them sleep, and if it doesn't work they decide aromatherapy isn't for them or that their sleep issues are too severe, but aromatherapy is an art, rather than just a 'science' (although there's plenty of science to it!) and one solution rarely works for everybody.

When we talk about an oil being relaxing, we mean that for the vast majority of people, it's relaxing. But our bodies are all uniquely and wonderfully made, and having a different response to an oil that everyone else thinks 'works' is just a part of what makes you uniquely you!

Don't give up.

Aromatherapy can be hugely beneficial to sleep - we just need to do a little bit of trouble shooting.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Where did I get my oils from?

Are they certified pure, therapeutic, grade oils?
Cheap oils from a health food store or high street pharmacy will not have the same therapeutic effects.

Do I have an emotional trigger to the oil I'm using?

If you really don't like the smell of lavender, it's probably irritating you and not helping you sleep! Try putting it on your feet and covering with socks so that you absorb the oil without having to smell it!

Have you tried blending it?

Essential oils are synergistic. Like B Vitamins, and football players, they work best as a team. If straight up lavender isn't doing it for you, try mixing it with some vetiver, copaiba or cedarwood, or ask me about my restful blend class!

Do you just need to try something else?

If you really hate lavender, something like wild orange, roman chamomile, cedarwood or vetiver might be more your taste, and all have relaxing properties.

If you purchased your essential oils for me, or any member of our team, remember that we are here to help you and support you with your purchase. Get in contact with your coach so we can help troubleshoot the issue.

Don't be afraid to ask questions - we're here to help!

If you've never tried our essential oils before, and you'd like to give them a go, why not book a free wellness consultation to see if I can help you?
